After a long hard cold winter New Yorkers are thrilled to be outside enjoying Spring.
One of the favorite places for New Yorkers getting outside is Central Park.
Did you know that NYC’s Central Park covers over 800 acres?
With all those acres to explore there is an extra special part of the park that will be open this May and June.
It is the Hallett Nature Sanctuary.
This special sanctuary is a 4 acre protected area of the Park near the Wollman Rink on the East Side of the Park.
The Hallett Sanctuary is protected as a bird sanctuary as intended by Central Park Creator Robert Moses.
In 2013 the Sanctuary was opened to the public for the first time in over 70 years.
Again this year this special sanctuary will be open to the public in the months of May and June from 1-3pm.
A visit to the Hallett Nature Sanctuary just south of the Wollman Rink between 6oth and 62nd Street is sure to be a treat for New Yorkers and visitors alike.
